A Brand New Blog (With A Dodgy Name)

In order to improve my negligible WordPress skills, a couple of weeks ago I enrolled in Julie Hall’s Simply WordPress course.

It’s  absolutely been worth it. I started off working through the modules one by one, and changing bits and pieces on this blog as I completed each exercise. But I could see that I was missing out on valuable experience by not building a WordPress site from the ground up, so decided it would be a good idea to start a brand new one.

But what about? A travel blog focused on travelling with kids seemed a possibility for a bit. until one day I was chatting to a friend on FB messenger and my 8 year old came up to me, howling and clutching a bleeding knee.

She had fallen over outside, playing ‘showjumping’ and had taken a bit of skin off. I cleaned it up (more howling) and dressed it, then together we decided the graze was only worth about a 4/10. Then she went back outside to show off her plaster to her siblings.

Of course, I had disappeared from the conversation with my friend for 10 minutes while I sorted DD out and she laughed when I explained how we classified injuries in this house. My kids are forever grazing knees, bumping heads and bruising themselves. Is this normal in a house with 4 kids? I don’t know, I’m assuming so. On the upside, they are rarely ill with coughs, colds, fevers or upset tummies.

‘ I love the way you have shades of graze’, said my friend.

‘Shades of Graze?’, I thought.’What a fantastic name for a blog.’

And that’s how my new blog came about.

I apologise for the cheesy pun, especially since I’m no fan of the books involved, but I figure they have to be good for something.

I’d love it if you’d pop over, take a look and maybe even subscribe…
