Hooray, It’s The Weekend

It’s Saturday morning at chez Mymumdom.

I used to think Saturday mornings were for lazy lie ins and relaxation, but then we had children.

It’s now lunchtime and this is what we’ve done so far.

1/I’ve taken DD2 to tutoring. This starts at 9:15 and is about 20 minutes away by car, so there is no real point in leaving her there. Instead, I parked the car as close as possible to the tutor’s house and got on with the second item on this list.

2/ I’ve walked the dogs. There is a big field behind a park nearby, so I took the dogs there. The puppy is still only little, so his ‘walk’ was a combination of walking and being carried. He’s also had a bit of practice walking on his lead; this involved him balking several times and his collar almost coming over his head as a result.

3/ After tutoring I had a dog vaccination booked in about 10 minutes away. I sometimes take one of the girls with me if I’m going to see an old client with a well behaved animal but this was a Staffy with anxiety issues, so I went alone.

4/ DH took DD1 to buy some cross country shoes. Little did we know that when we signed a permission slip for her attend an after school running club, it would involve the purchase of specialist footwear.

5/ We’ve turned the TV off. Our children watch too much TV in the weekends and we are trying to limit this. So while DH and DD1 were out shoe shopping, I encouraged the others to do something other than sit slack jawed in front of the idiot box.

We did some dressing up, made stuff with triqo, built a den with the dinning room table and some blankets, then DD2 did some knitting.

I now feel happy that the kids have had their fair share of non-screen time today, but the house is a tip and I need a lie down.
