Review: Tatty Teddy And My Blue Nose Friends Collectibles
You may be familiar with Tatty Teddy from greeting cards, stationery and soft toys but now the sweet little bear is 3 dimensional and collectible.
He, and his friends, even come with their own play sets and we were fortunate enough to be sent a My Blue Nose Friends Tatty Teddy’s Heart House and some Blue Nose Friend figurines to play with.
As much as my children love play sets when they first get them, I have to confess to feeling ambivalent about them. In my experience, they are usually cheap plastic, come with badly made accessories and are quickly tired of.
So when I unpacked the play set and collectables, I was surprised how tactile they were. The little pocket sized characters are plastic, but are soft to touch and just so cute. Both my 8 and 6 year old daughters and my 4 year old son loved them and kept carrying them around the house. I had to keep urging them to keep them together.
The Heart House is basically a small dolls house that comes with 7 rooms, a bed , a chair, some stairs and a slide. There is also a little fireplace that needs batteries to ‘flicker’ but was a real hit with my kids, and it has cute little window shutters and doors that really work. If you have a child who enjoys opening and shutting things, they will appreciate this feature.
My two youngest enjoyed playing ‘house’ with their collectibles. They basically cycled through their own days a couple of times, and enjoyed ‘lighting’ the fire and ‘going to bed’.
It’s big enough for two kids to play with it side by side but for me, the best thing about it is that it all closes up securely, with a place for all the pieces. And it has that all important carry handle to make it easy to move out of your living room and back into the playroom.
The shelves on back can be used to display all the figurines your child has collected, or can simply be used to store the ladder and stairs.
The Tatty Teddy and My Blue Nose Friends range is aimed at girls aged 4 years and above but I have to say it was my son who adored this set.
As you can see he was engrossed by it and loved shutting up the set and carrying it around with his blue nosed friends in it. He especially loved Tatty Teddy himself and has been carrying him around for days. My 6 year old DD was initially interested in playing but as time went on she definitely preferred the collectable aspect of the toys.
The Heart House and figurines may be plastic but they are not garishly coloured or flimsy. They are chunky attractive toys that should withstand years of play with a little care.
The Heart House has a RRP of £39.99 and the collectables can be purchased as single figures for £3, or as a pack of 4 for £10. They are available on Amazon or from The Entertainer shops.
We were given a Tatty Teddy And My Blue Nose Friends Heart House and characters to review, but the opinions expressed above are all my own.
