The Gallery: Beauty
Wow, what a difficult topic.
I have been lucky enough to see so much beauty during my life and have had the opportunity to photograph a lot of it.
So my only problem is what to choose?
Sunsets or scenery? Colours or textures? Children or animals? Flowers or Food? I’ve found all these things beautiful at times.
In the end I went for Animals. And not just any animal; the most beautiful animal in the world IMO.
We met these cheetahs while visiting Africat in Namibia. These are old animals who have become too used to humans and aren’t considered suitable for rehabilitation and release. They are not tame, but we were able to get very close to them and take loads of photos.
They are just so beautiful with their striking markings and gorgeous coats. Look at those spots. Look at those claws!
I love the way their tear marks lead down to their mouths and the colour of their eyes. When they look at you, you wonder if they are thinking about dinner…
Despite their size and the fact that they are basically wild animals, they behaved an awful lot like domestic cats, purring and smooching up against the fence that separated us. It was very hard not to reach out and give them a little scratch behind the ears.
But we resisted.
Most of the time…
Please be assured that no digits or limbs were lost in the taking of these photos.
