What a theme!
DH and I have just exhausted ourselves going to 9 Olympic events, over 8 consecutive days, and we have a LOT of great photos. The British getting a Silver in the eventing (and NZ getting a Bronze in the same event). The Women’s Pursuit Team getting a Gold at the velodrome. And we got to see Usain Bolt run.
I won’t bore you with all the photos here but if you search for ‘olympic’ on this blog, you’ll find some of them in my Olympic posts.
I haven’t yet written up the last two sessions we went to, so today I want to share with you some shots I took on Monday night in the Olympic Stadium.
The great thing about sports, is that at any level, from grassroots to Olympic, there is the opportunity for spectators to enjoy the game, as well as the players.
On our final night at the Olympics, we had these wonderful track-level seats which allowed me to photograph some sports photographers suffering for their trade, while they were attempting to get some action shots of the final of the women’s 300m Steeplechase.
Their predicament made me laugh and I wasn’t the only one amused; you can see one of the Gamesmakers cracking up too. The photographers were very good humoured about it and laughed and smiled as they dried their cameras off, ready for the next lap.
And then, in the end, while the winner was doing her victory lap she ran over and kicked more water at them, which provoked more laughter from everyone.
Sport doesn’t have to be serious, but it should be fun.
