The Gallery: Street Photography
This is our street at 3:30pm today.
It’s a lovely sunny day during the school holidays, so where is everyone? Our street is full of young families. There should be people walking their dogs, families cycling to the park and older kids running up and down the paths.
There are hardly even any cars; I stood out for 7 minutes and didn’t see anyone drive past.
And it’s so quiet. I can hear some kids playing in a garden the next street over, but apart from that, nothing.
So what’s wrong? Where are all the people?
Inside, that’s where. Or sitting quietly in the shade in the garden. Everyone is trying not to move.
My garden thermometer read 39.8C at that time of the day in our sun trap of a south-facing garden. It’s too hot to go to the park, our dogs are refusing to move and the kids are complaining that the patio is too hot to walk on; the little darlings can’t get to the pool.
It’s just too fecking hot.
I know, I shouldn’t complain. We had so much rain for so long and we all wondered if Summer would ever arrive.
Now it’s here. we are all hiding from it.
All things in moderation please. This includes the weather!
To see more Street photography, most undoubtedly more exotic than my photo, check out The Gallery this week.

I know what you mean, it’s far too hot. Great picture.
Great shot- eerily quiet for a summers day, but you’re right, too hot!!
Love the idea of SLOW SHADE♫♪
